Ready to Roll!

YEA!!!! The studio is all done and ready for it's grand opening!  I have posted out to many of my friends and lists with the address and time. Saturday is the big fun day!

More stuff loaded in

Got more done on the studio this weekend. We got the bookcases and one of the desks assembled. Now I have to bring over the stuff to fill it up! Here are photos of what is done so far (ok, got more stuff brought over yesterday so there really is more there than this.)

Today we got the bookcases and one of the desks put together and set up. I really am liking how pretty it is looking in there. I will take my camera next time and get photos. I am hoping to have an Open House in two weeks so people can come and start enjoying the space.

UPDATE: I have been sick so not much has been done this week. I got rid of the magazine rack that was in there (the neighbor bought it from the prior tenant and removed it after the photos were taken)

I got a really cool rack system from Ikea that I have installed. It is this one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S69889213/ but I returned the wire baskets and got all plastic bins. 4 big ones on the bottom. Small ones for the rest of the way.

I also got bookshelves and a couple of desks from this collection (also IKEA) http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70176519/ (desk) and http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40178591/ (bookshelves) I am putting a set of shelves on either side of one of the desks with a bridging shelf between them to form an entertainment center. The second desk will be where I have my computer set up. They are really inexpensive and look really cute. I will do photos when I get it all set up.

I also found a recliner that I put on lay away at Reclinerland. It is a pretty chocolate brown and should fit in nicely.

Starting The Studio

This blog is my fun way to keeping track of the rewards and challenges of starting up my textile studio. I just rented a small 12x14 foot blank officespace near my home. I will be uploading before and after photos showing each step of creating my workspace. I look forward to being able to come back later and see the challenges that I had and how I overcame them.
